Superbly illustrated with 208 colour did a power of good for Jaguara#39;s image around the world. The new 3.4litre Jaguar could be had with three different gearbox options: fourspeed manual, fourspeed manual with overdrive (both using the Moss gearbox) or threespeed automatic. The automatics were not quite as fast as cars with manual gearboxes, but the losses were mainly in acceleration. For the 3.4, Jaguar had chosen the same Borg Warner type DG automatic box as they had used in the Mk VII saloons since 1953.
