Formation of UNITES-Professionals - Union of ITES-Professionals (India)
A two-day meeting was held on 18th & 19th of September 2005 at Mumbai and was inaugurated on the 18th September 2005 at Nobel Hall in Diplomat Hotel & was duly attended by the following :

Professionals/Delegates from across India (Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, NCR (Delhi, Harayana, UP) & Cochin.

 

A brief discussion were held on the following topics :
1. Challenges confronting Call Center & BPO professionals
2. Organizing & Negotiating Call Center & BPO professionals
3. Adoption of Action Programme
4. Adoption of Constitution

UNITES is supported by UNI Asia & Pacific
The elected state office bearers unanimously accepted the new name & resolved to register this as All India Trade Union under the banner of UNITES - Professionals (Union for Information Technology Enabled Services-Professionals).

The Asia Pacific Region of UNI has more than 2.6 million members. The region comprises 6+ of the 10 largest countries (by population) in the world - China, India, Indonesia and Russia. Over one half of the world's population is in the Asia Pacific Region.

UNI-Apro as an integral part of UNI is fully committed to UNI's objectives and will co-operate closely with UNI and the other regional organizations to live up to the expectations of all our affiliates.

UNI-Apro will develop practical activities and services to strengthen the capacity and capability of affiliates in meeting the challenges of economic and technological globalization.

We will be strategic in our response and working closely with ICFTU-Apro, ITSs and NGOs operating in this region ensure that human and trade union rights are respected in all countries and by all employers.
