The
session was opened by Ms. Angela
D'Souza (Organiser). She welcomed
all the participants and introduced
all the Panel members. The Panellists
were:
Mr. Karthik Shekhar – General
Secretary of UNITES
Ms. Parul Sharma - Chief
Sub-Editor, Jansatta
Ms. Sunidhi Chatterjee – Decisions
For Life Campaign Member
After
this, All participants were asked
to introduce themselves with their
names, organisation and hobbies.
They were also asked to state what
they expect from this programme.
An
Ice breaker was conducted by Bro.
Karthik. This was an interesting
exercise, in which a Huge square
was displayed. Participants were
required to work individually and
then in teams toward the solution.
All teams discovered greater efficiency
and more insight while working with
their teams.
After
this, Mr. Rupinder and Mr. Sam Daniel
talked about their perception of
UNITES and what they expect of it.
Mr. Rupinder cited that this was
not a union in the conventional
sense, but a sort of much more personal
networking and thus would prove
more effective in reaching its goals.
This was Mr. Sam’s second
meeting and he believes UNITES Delhi
is growing. He works on animating
youth in his company and thus finds
it very fruitful to be part of such
a group where one gets to interact
with both senior and junior members
in the industry.
Ms. Esha also shared with us her
experience and spoke about challenges
for women in every sector esp. Real
Estate. She stated her avid interest
in knowing and fighting for worker
rights. Mr. Saurabh spoke about
why he quit his job after working
for about two and a half years in
an IT company. In this manner, all
the participants interacted in an
open manner. It was a good debate.
Women’s rights were especially
stressed upon.
Brother
Karthik moderated the entire session.
He cleared queries on the way. Sis.
Parul also helped in clearing queries.
Many answers came from within the
group itself. Another energiser
was conducted. It was a game in
which the whole group was divided
in two. One team was given apples
and the other oranges. They had
to market it to each other. Each
team, by the end of the day brought
out very interesting qualities and
comments about each fruit. The aim
was to show how every element has
its own importance and one must
recognise them.
After
this, Bro Karthik made a presentation
on UNITES, NgN, IT(ES) and UNI.
Ms. Nishtha also made a presentation
of the Decisions for Life Project.
There was a lot of comments and
questions during this session.

presentations. He made a few remarks
on UNITES initiatives in IT
